My Best Home Schooling Resource.

Are you currently thinking about homeschooling? Maybe you have had some problems with your public school, and are seriously considering the option of homeschooling. In this case, our best home school resource might be just the thing to help! It’s difficult to decide whether or not to homeschool, and you may begin to panic at all the things you do not yet know. Don’t worry - we’ll help you right here.

Believe it or not, working with your children may be the easiest part of homeschooling, surprisingly. The most difficult part may turn out to be the organization, the planning, the curriculum search, as well as record-keeping. When you find your own personal best home schooling resource - things will begin to get easier. You will have more direction, more knowledge, and will be able to go forward with much more confidence.

We live in Ohio, so in our state - we start by sending what is called a “letter of intent” to the superintendent of our local school board. Basically this letter states that we intend to home school our boys, and we also need to include a basic outline of the curriculum we will be using for the year. Every state has it’s own policies, so start by calling the superintendent of your own local board of education.

You may find that there are other requirements depending on the State you live in, or country for that matter. Since we live in the US - we have requirements by state, but I’m sure there are also requirements by country too. You may even need to name and register your home school.

Local home school groups are another fabulous place to gain much needed information. You may find that your local homeschooling group is your best home school resource on the planet! Not only will you gain very important information from a local home school group, you will begin to get acquainted with other homeschooling parents in your area. Many of whom will be much more experienced than you.

Personally, some of my best home school resources come from right online. That’s where I found my own homeschooling group, and a ton of great information. Folks online share things that they learn about, including fun FREE activities for homeschoolers! We got a chance to head to our local Zoo completely FREE just by paying attention to our groups posts. Your kids will love you for taking them out to socialize with the other homeschooling families.

Another excellent resource is homeschooling BLOGS. I currently run my own homeschooling blog, and I love it. You will find veteran tips, tricks, free stuff, and more from just browsing other people’s home school blogs. They are an awesome place to socialize online, and will help you learn, grow, and you can contribute your own findings by using the comment areas on blogs that you like. Your children will be very happy to benefit from all that you learn.
