Can You Learn French With Rocket French
This is an essential question for any self study course, even the more expensive options like Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur, but often it is not actually the course that is to blame but the attitude of the person using the course. And it is hard to get the right attitude when you don’t live in a country that speaks the language you are striving to learn.
Despite the course or software that you may have opted for, there are two key ingredients to being successful when learning a language. These are consistency and focus. In fact, this is true for anything you are trying to learn but it is doubly important when learning a new language.
Basically, we a wired to pick up languages but the thing that holds most people back is that they get into a comfort zone. So you can’t fail to learn a new language if you give yourself a proper chance but many people struggle to give themselves a proper chance.
It works as so. You have been learning one language since you were a baby. You know how it works and you can express your inner thoughts and feelings with this language. You rely on it to some extent as everybody needs to talk. You are extremely attached to this language.
Unfortunately, this strong commitment to English is what may be holding you back from learning French. In order to learn French you have to use it consistently. This means using it, hearing it and seeing it everyday. Only through repetition will the key skills of a language sink in.
If you live in a country that doesn’t speak the language you are learning, then you may go for several days before even seeing or hearing that language, let alone using it. This is an attitude you have to change.
This is where focus is important. Try to set yourself goals when learning a language. This can help you to be consistent in your learning and also motivate you to keep going. Set small goals that are easy to achieve in a week. This will keep you studying and make you feel like you are progressing. Have a long term goal that the smaller goals can work towards. This will give you a sense of why you are putting in the hard work to learn a new language.
With this said, Rocket French can be helpful in achieving these goals. There are three games that can help you to learn vocabulary, comprehension, pronunciation and grammar. You can play these games as part of achieving a goal like conjugate the present tense of all er verbs. It also has an audio course that you can listen to each day as you go to work, hence being consistent.
But Rocket French will not help you be successful unless you use it everyday and try to hear and use of little bit of French each day. Ultimately it comes down to how much effort you are willing to put into the learning. The more effort you put in the more successful you will be, regardless of the type of course or method you are using to learn the language.
